slovak evangelistic center

The Slovak Evangelistic Center was established for the purpose of developing an effective radio evangelistic ministry for the Lutheran Church of Slovakia.  The Slovak Evangelistic Center for is an independent mission organization, related closely to the Slovak Lutheran Church. Its aim is to proclaim the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, to bring people to the Lord Jesus Christ and to build a strong Christian mission in Slovakia

The Center began in 1993 with the promise of the Lord: “See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut” (Revelation 3:8). Its main emphasis is to spread the Good News to people through evangelistic literature, radio mission, TV and video mission. They personally serve the Word of God to prisoners and to the Romany ethnic group (Gypsy) in Slovakia. To secure good spiritual progress for those who have responded to the Gospel, they build the network of voluntary mission coworkers all over Slovakia. They also offer help through the Bible correspondence course, seminars and training courses.

The center has produced much evangelistic literature that is sent out in response to radio programs. They provide distance Bible Education for those who have no congregation to assist them. They hold evangelism training sessions throughout the country and have been a catalyst in the formation of prayer and youth ministries, ministry to gypsies, and other programs developed to help the church become the church of the Great Commission.  They are currently praying for partners who can help them with financial subsidies as they seek to develop an adequate base of support within the
Slovak Lutheran Church of the Augsburg Confession.

The current Director, Slavomir Slavik (pictured below), has served with the Center since 2001. Former director Viola Fronkova continues to serve on staff and serves as an evangelist to the Gypsy people in Slovakia.

By Director Slavomir Slavik

We are so thankful to Lord for this year. God has provided tremendous blessings and guidance to us as we continue to minister in the areas of: mass-media (books, radio and TV), bible correspondence courses, mission conference “For the living church”, prison and gypsy ministry.

What is the greatest joy for us? When people get know our Lord Jesus Christ. Our last conference was a huge blessing and encouragement to us. We have received many positive responses from the people who participated. For example, one young lady wrote:

“It has been some time since I took part in the conference „For the Living Church“ in Stará Turá. Though I remained silent there, every song, every prayer and every speech touched my heart deeply. And so with God’s help I laid my life in the Lord Jesus Christ’s hands. My life has changed so much since then! It is hard to describe and express the feelings! I thank God that He has opened up my eyes so that I can live a new life “for Christ” now. I wish you God’s blessing!”

Hundreds of people are connected with us also through bible correspondence courses. Actually we are now looking for a new bible course for people who have finished our present bible course. People are demonstrating a desire to grow more in their faith. Isn´t that great?

“This Bible Course gave me a lot of things. My faith became deeper and I learned my Lord and His Word more and more. This cognition is binding me to be a witness of Jesus Christ and I am eager to do the Gospel outreach for all who are dying. I have devoted my life to Jesus Christ, I have put off my old self and put on the new self. I long for serving Him, to be loyal to Him and to fulfill His mission message.“

We are going to proceed in our broadcasting of Christian programs through commercial mass-media. Currently we are changing the schedule of our radio program “Piece of Heaven”. Originally it was broadcasted every second Sunday. Starting with the new year it will be aired every Sunday.

We are preparing a new media strategy for secular people, to communicate the Gospel to them. This is going to be increasingly a much more daunting challenge in Europe.

Recently we have been contacted by a local TV station from the northern area of Slovakia. They liked our radio programs and want to broadcast our TV documentaries and programs which we also produce. We are planning to produce more documentaries for national TV about people whose lives have been changed by Lord.

In 2007 we are devising a new series of workshops for pastors. Our Lutheran Church has invited us to work with them on regular basis.

We are proceeding with our regular meetings in the prisons and are also going to start with anger seminars there as well. In addition we are continuing on with our evangelistic outreach in gypsy settlements throughout Slovakia.

Please join us in praying, for without Him we can do nothing.
